The photo exhibition Miradas de Tanzania will soon be on its anniversary

It began as a dream, a fixed idea that Barbara kept thinking about with longing every time her gaze crossed the same scenarios, over and over again.

As a volunteer of the NGO Africa Directo, she knew that her work had to go further, and she felt the need to organize a photographic exhibition that would capture those shocking stories, the ones starring each of the characters, mostly boys and girls, through their gazes and the idea was taking shape until she was able to land in the Madrid municipality of Galapagar, the starting point a year ago.

The great reception, and thanks to the help of the Ricardo León Library of Galapagar, allowed that months later, and with the support of the book area and the reading of the General Subdirectorate of the book of the Community of Madrid, this project did not fall into oblivion.

Throughout these 12 months, we have visited different locations, and I have personally checked the interest that has been aroused among the public that has attended the conferences. In that proximity I have been able to tell Barbara’s day-to-day life at Mama Kevina Hope Centre, explain the different projects that the NGO develops in the country. On some occasions, it has been difficult for me to tell the story of Witi or the state of health that Filo was going through, since they are two of the girls who have marked Barbara the most.

In short, we are fully satisfied to know where we have arrived, and it encourages us to continue with more strength and enthusiasm than at the beginning, always with the help of the NGO Africa Direct, family and friends.

We would also like to thank the institutions that have collaborated with us during this time.
